The Brief: Utilise a small, awkward space in the eaves.
Requirements: Create a fully functional home office with a desk, filing cabinet and storage – all within a compact, sloped-ceiling room.
With many new-build homes now spanning three floors, the top level is often tucked into the eaves, leaving smaller, underused spaces that can be tricky to furnish. In this project, we transformed one such area into a small but beautifully functional home office. The focus was on making the most of every inch.
We designed bespoke joinery to fit the space precisely, incorporating a curved-edge desk with built-in drawers, a filing cabinet and a matching curved shelf above to create a cohesive, flowing layout. The shelving was tailored to the exact depth of the printer and files, so nothing felt bulky or out of place. We even flipped the door to open outwards, gaining precious space inside.
To soften the angles and add charm, the walls, ceiling and window recess were wrapped in a Jean Paul Gaultier wallpaper – its small and elegant pattern lending lightness and texture to the room. Artwork was framed to double as a stylish Zoom backdrop while discreetly hiding the printer behind it. A white Pantone chair adds a modern, sculptural finish.
This project proves that even the most compact corners can be reimagined with smart design and considered details.
